We here at Dean's Termite & Pest Control have been around since 1980. Here is just a brief history of how we have transformed over time! - 1980 (Fall) John Jones starts a one-man landscape maintenance company called DEAN of GREEN. Customers begin to call him "Dean" (the nick-name sticks). Services include mowing, irrigation, fertilization, & landscaping. - 1981 - 1989 John Jones studies lawn care and shrub care thru the University of Florida IFAS program; includes insect control, weed control, fungus control, proper fertilization techniques, safe application of pesticides,etc. - 1990 (Spring) John (Dean) Jones passes Florida State exam for pest control. Company is now certified by the State of Florida in the Lawn & Ornamental category. Dean's Pest Control is formed and merges with Dean of Green. Lawn spraying services begin. - 1990 (Summer) The landscape maintenance part of the business, which has grown to 15 employees, is sold. Dean's Pest Control, with approximately 100 lawn spray customers, officially begins. - 1991- 1992 Dean's two oldest sons join the business. The company starts growing rapidly due to the high quality of work. Our reputation spreads throughout the county by word-of-mouth. - 1995 Growth rate accelerates: 200 to 300 new lawn customers sign up each month due to word-of-mouth. - 1998 DEAN (John Jones) becomes Master Gardener. - 1998 At the request of our customers, we obtain our state certification to perform indoor pest control in homes. Word spreads quickly. We also start getting hundreds of requests for Termite control. - 1999 Obtain our state certification for termite treatments. Also obtain the services of "Hunter", a termite K-9. We now provide Lawn & Ornamental Care, Home Pest Control, and Termite control. - 2004 Company grows to 50 trucks, 55 employees, and over 13,000 customers. Still working out of one office (Leesburg) which serves a 25 mile radius. - 2005 (February) Lawn & Ornamental business sold to Scott's Lawn Service of Ohio (famous for quality products such as Scott's Turf Builder, Ortho Brand Products, Hyponex, Peter's, etc.) DEAN'S now specializes in Home Pest Control and Termite Control. - 2005 (Summer) DEAN'S begins Termite "Conversion" Service. Homeowners who don't like their current termite protection provider can simply switch to DEAN'S. - 2005 (Fall) DEAN'S Exclusive $1 Million Lifetime Termite Repair Guarantee now includes the "Never Pay For Another Termite Treatment Again!" provision. Why Should You Choose DEAN'S? We are a family owned company that believes in giving superior service at an affordable price and being honest and fair in all our dealings. For example, when DEAN'S started to offer termite treatments, the most effective method at the time was termite baiting. So that is what we sold our customers. But after selling baiting systems to about 100 customers, a new termite product came to market that was far more effective in eliminating termites. While our competitors (who also had been selling baiting systems) went back to their customers and re-sold them a new treatment, DEAN'S felt this was not fair to the consumer. (It would be like buying a new car and then the very next day a $2,000 rebate was announced which you'd miss out on! You'd feel like you lost $2,000, right?) So DEAN'S went back to all 100 termite bait customers and AT NO CHARGE gave them the new, more effective treatment. It took us almost a year to retreat these homes, but we felt it was the right thing to do. We also strive to be the "Leaders in Our Industry". Being different and standing out in the marketplace is something we strive to achieve. That's why we try to keep up with leading edge technology in both the products we use and the equipment we have. We take great pride in the work we do and the service we provide. We actually care about doing a good job. For example: Our termite detecting K-9's are two of about only 60 actively used in the U.S. today. Also, our termite treatments result in a level of protection that was unheard of a few years ago. This has enabled DEAN'S to offer our NO CHARGE Termite Conversion policy for homeowners who are unhappy with their current termite company.
